The solar energy accusations exists and today we take a look at this subject, is solar energy a scam or not? What are the critics argument for that the solar power is not a good solution for us and what are the remedies?
Everything in this world has it´s pros and cons. Using modified solar energy systems to generate power, solar energy providers’ claims to be the best in powering businesses and homes at a discounted cost compared to the utility companies. These providers also claim that they also contribute in to a clean, green and healthier environment.
This is true. By providing solar energy systems for government institutions, homes, and businesses; by making the installation processes easy; and by providing low locked-in power rates, solar energy companies all over America assume to be the number one providers of clean energy.
Never the less solar energy faces its own critics. Some people always accuse solar energy in many forms. Here I will discuss some of the critics on solar energy and their arguments.
Installing Solar Energy Is Costly
Ways used to conserve energy are very essential to our climate and environment, rather than taking part in carbon emissions and heavy smoke. Critics say that solar energy is costly and can cost you a fortune to actually install and maintain it.
For instant one solar panel does not contribute much in a day. They are needed in plenty to generate a significant amount of electricity daily and actually cut down your electricity bills. There for those wishing to install solar panel systems they would need large amount of cash to purchase the system. These are true but always remember that expensive is gold.
With this high costs, many state governments have provided solar incentives or tax breaks to reduce down the costs of installing solar power systems. Another reason why cost is just a frail accusation against solar energy is that you can save up to 40% on cost of solar systems by buying solar energy kits and installing them yourself from scratch.
Another way to cut down the prices is that, community can join hands and decided to install a solar farm themselves. This way every house can get a share of solar electricity from the solar farm and no one would feel the heavy cost of installation.
So cost is not a reason that should hinder you from going solar.
Solar Energy Is Harmful At Raw Material Production Level
Photovoltaic producers use harmful toxic and explosive mixtures that lead to unexpected health risks to employees and community living around the manufacturing firm. Solar energy is also accused for deforestation and displacement of wild animals in areas where solar farms are being created. But I ask is these really an opposing point compared to the benefits solar energy has?
Solar energy aims in reducing the composition of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere but not beating it. Even if the production of solar panels employs use of harmful and toxic gases, the emission during the manufacturing is very minimal compare to the emission during the operation of the generator at home, businesses and other institutions.
So when critics say solar energy pollutes the environment, I say it reduces the pollution, and at this instant pollution is not a reason to stop me from going solar.
Solar Availability Is Limited
These are 100% true but it has solutions. Those people opposing solar energy use this point of view to discourage others from going solar. But did you know this is the point where you start counting your dollars. Leave out the critics and listen carefully. It is true that solar energy is limited but there are solutions which are not a secret anymore.
Once you have installed you solar energy system you will start to wonder, how will my system generate electricity at night while there is no sun? One of the solutions is that you can purchase solar lithium batteries which store solar energy generated during the day. This stored energy can be used at night when your solar panels are not generating any electricity. Another remedy to this accusation is to connect your solar home system to the grid.
This is where the issue of saving comes in. during the day when you are out of the house, you don’t switch of your system, instead you let it generate power and feed it to the grid. When you get home in the evening what you feed in to the grid is what you will draw to use for the few hours before you go to bed. Obviously you can’t draw all the power you system feed to the grid since morning. The remaining power, the grid company pays you for it.
This is the best part about solar energy but let’s just assume the critics didn’t know about it.
Solar Energy Increases My House Tax
Other people keep saying that immediately the solar panels are on top of their roof, heavy house tax will come knocking on their doors.
This is completely incorrect. In fact the solar panels are not included during your house valuation. To encourage residents to go solar, state government has excluded your solar power system from the total house value that is supposed to be taxed.
Install solar power on your roof with confidence and let no one tell you misreading information. Actually apart from solar energy system not being taxed, they make your house attractive and increase it value.
Researches done in the US show that most of the real estate developers include solar energy systems to incite buyers.
Solar Panels Drain The Sun Off Its Energy
This turns out to be one of the most hysterical accusations against solar energy I have ever heard. A research body said in a report that solar panel do not convert sun light into electricity instead it draws the energy from the sun.
As if that was not enough the research went on to say that the more solar panels we install the more we continue to rob the sun of its energy. Come to think of the sun, sun light is the byproduct of the nuclear reactions that takes place on the sun’s surface how can it drain the sun. If solar panels draw the sun energy it’s supposed to be drawing nuclear radiation. This is not a reason at all it’s just an accusation from a losers mouth and those people who oppose change.
So you as an individual what do you stand for? Losers or people who are ready for a clean green and healthy change? But just before you answer that lets look at yet another frequently asked question about solar energy. Is solar energy leasing a scam? What do you think?
Is Solar Energy Leasing A Scam?
Solar leasing is not a scam. Those who say it’s a scam are those people who don’t take time to read the contracts offered by solar companies before they sign them. And when penalties and inconvenience befall them for not for not fulfilling their contractual obligations the shout out very loud that solar leasing is a scam. That it was a plot to suck some cash out of their pockets. What you need to do is to understand the contract terms and condition for lease completely before you go ahead to sign it to avoid issues with your solar energy providers.
Paying absolutely nothing for a solar system is no longer a scam. It works just fine as long as you are keen. This is how it goes; a solar company of your choice will install the solar energy system on you house at no cost at all. And then they will sell you electricity from your roof top at a very low cost than the utility company.
Your only task is to pay for the electricity but you don’t own the system. The solar company makes money by getting the Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) but not you the owner of the house. You as the home owners enjoy the low electricity bills which leads you to save more and more monthly and annually. On average home owners with Personal Purchase Agreement (PPAs) end up paying 20-30% less monthly for electricity than they used to pay before going solar. Solar energy leasing is not a scan at all, in fact it is the best thing that ever happened to people who also wished to go solar but didn’t know how. Thanks to Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs)
So if you know anyone who is always claiming that solar energy is a scam this post can be a good thing to show them to change their mind. If you got any questions or simply want to leave a comment I will be more than happy to answer them below.
